    Can a custodial parent allow a 16 year old to live with his no-custodial father
    Divorced for 9 years, great relationship with sons father. Need son to live with father in order to get him into a better school district. Live in the state of Indiana. Is it legal for us to do this without going through the courts?

    Please pay more attention to posting guidelines. Many forums have sticky notes on top that describe what the forum is about. The Children forum where this was moved from has such a sticky directing legal questions here.

    If both parents are in agreement and have joint legal custody then you don't need to go through the courts. The kicker is whether there is a support order and whether its being collected by a state agency. To get the support changed would require a modification of the court order.
