    Does f1 status make you exempt for federal taxes?
    We have an employee about to start work under "F1" status. Are they exempt from paying their federal taxes?

    No, you must pay federal and state income taxes. You will file nonresident tax return and will not pay Social security and Medicare taxes. Your U.S. Tax Return: U.S. Tax Filing Requirements for Non-Residents
