We need more information on what exactly is happening.

When the dryer gets hot? Is it gas or electric?

First check the lint channel under the dryer and the exaust, it could be overheating.

It's gas. This is what goes on I put a load of clothes in the dryer and it start drying but after the clothes are half way dry the dryer stops. Once the dryer cools off I can start it again.

Could be a thermistor. Or a high limit or safety tripping.

Set the dryer on a timed cycle. See if it cuts off during a timed cycle.
