Do You Have to Play an Instrument to Be a Singer?
Hi, I want to be a singer but I was wondering something... do you have to play an instrument to be a famous singer? Most singers I know play an instrument. Thanks, Grace. I'm also new to this.

    Hi, vanillaheartful!

A person doesn't have to play an instrument to be a singer. However, being able to read music and also play a little bit on the piano can be very helpful to being a singer.

    Thanks!

Although playing an instrument would probably help, it is not necessary. There are many singers that perform without playing one, including lead singers in bands.

Let your voice be your instrument.:)

Some of the greatest singers in the world have stood alone at the microphone. Some play, some don't. But I tell you, it sure doesn't hurt when it comes down to writing music.

Keep practicing and playing. That's something that you'll have for the rest of your life.
