    Home ac / heat pump
Last summer it got to about 112 degrees and my outside condenser fan would not come on, the compressor was running. I put a box fen over the unit to cool it down and soon the fan started to run. Then every thing worked fine until this summer, 112 again the same thing happened. My question is the specs say there is an internal thermal protector inside the fan motor. Could this be getting weak or is it something else like the starting capassitor. Appreciate any help, Thanks Jerry.

How old is the unit. Is the unit clear on all sides from vergatation, etc. to allow good airflow?
