I know you would have Joe... You and the wife are wonderful parents. It's just a shame you are having to go through all of this.

4 Emergency room visits, 100 doctor visits. Later, well a bit of an exaggeration but maybe not.

I brought in the stuff he has been coughing up today to the family doctor. He still said he could not find anything wrong with him.

Showed the stuff and explained everything. They did x rays and also did a referral for a pediatrician. We are seeing one next Thursday.

This afternoon, we got a call from the doctor saying that they did found something in his lungs. The x rays were not normal, but it is still not clear what it was. Said there is three possibilities. Bronchitis, Pneumonia, and something else. He asked if he has a fever, No. He does not want to treat him with anything unless he develops another fever then he will give him antibiotics.

I said, well if your not sure exactly what it is or if it is not definitive enough results to say exactly what it is, how do we find out what exactly it is? He said he will send his notes, and x ray results to the Pediatrician.

Now the doctor is saying come in anytime we want to see him. Looks like the parents are right all along.

How many times and trips and sleepless nights of going back and forth on a daily basis.

Wish doctors would take parents concerns more seriously instead of always trying to send us on our way with uneducated guesses and prescriptions for things that are not proven or investigated for.

Coming out of the hospital after birth, yes, you do have a pediatrician, if you stay in one place long enough that is.

Then these specialists could easily enough refer you to a pediatrician. They pick one and send a fax, (normal procedure) get a date and then pass the information on to to you.

We were in Ontario the first three years of his life. No, coming out of the hospital after birth. No we did not have a pediatrician. They would not even take him on as a patient. They told us that unless something was seriously wrong with him they would not even look at him. The only time we even could see a pediatrician was if we had a referral and there was a real good reason to see one.

The nose, throat and ears specialists said he would pass on the information to the family doctor and his recommendation.

When we saw the family doctor, we asked for a referral. Since he has no idea what is going on.

Dang, we have a ped on staff who sees the babies right after birth and until they are 18, unless the PARENTS choose otherwise. I guess it's just hard for me to see it any other way, since that's what I have experienced since my oldest was born in 1986.

I don't know why you gave me a disagree if I am only trying to help. Believe me, I have been through much the same as you in the past, only we were Canadians in the US with no health insurance when our son became ill with what they thought was meningitis. I could have died on the spot from all the worry. Every pediatric bill had to be paid on the spot, $l000s of dollars. That was 27 years ago. They found Chris had had a stroke at birth. Believe me, I couldn't get back to Canada fast enough and had a pediatrician in line as soon as I crossed the border.

How dare you give me a disagree when I was only trying to help with FACTUAL information because in Ontario, a good pediatrician is most likely in place when a new mom comes out of the hospital.

I will stay off this thread just in case I get another unwarranted disagree. However, I do sincerely hope that your son recovers quickly and you finally have some peace in your life.

It was not unwarranted disagree. How dare I. If you can not handle a disagree then tough really. Your telling me that you have a pediatrician coming out of the hospital which was NOT TRUE AND INCORRECT. That simple really.

I know your trying to help, but grow a thicker skin. I am telling you my situation and what I have dealt with and how we were not able to get a pediatrician.
