    Thanks for the info.

I've replaced the air return filters, can you tell me if there are other filters and their locations. Is it between the air handler and evaporator? Or in the copper line somewhere? I really don't know, any help is appreciated.

If you have changed your return air filters then then next thing is probably a freon leak. Are you air filters in the duct work at the airhandler or in filter grills upstairs?

Change the filter, shut the system down and allow pleanty of time to thaw. Start it back up, be sure the indoor blower is running. If it starts freezing again, it's time to place a service call, it may be low on refrigerant.

I checked the evaporator coil and both sides are clean it looks new.

I hooked up the gauges and I got the following:

    Blue/low line = 80 PSI
    Red/high line = 175 PSI

There are not high or low pressure switches outside on the condenser unit

I checked the blower in the attic and its working okay

The air filters in the returns are new and there are not filters in the attic blower system

Last the condenser's compressor is cycling on and off approx. every 7 - 10 minutes.

I'm guessing that it's low on freon?

    Any ideas?

What is causing my AC system's high line
What is causing my AC system's high line "small copper line" to be low it's 175 PSI, and the condenser and lines had ice?

The original problem was that the condenser and lines were iced over and the system wasn't cooling.

I've replaced the condensor's capacitor and contactor.

I checked the evaporator coil and both sides are clean it looks new.

    Blue/low line = 80 PSI
    Red/high line = 175 PSI

Is this a 410 unit? Puron? If so the blue in should have been about 130 to 145

Replacing A/C - condenser or heat pump/condenser [ 1 Answers ]

I live in a condo. All of the units in the building need to new air conditioners because they are all old and will not survive a scheduled reroofing of the building. The association got a bid for a company that will put in a new condenser unit for anyone who wants one - it is about $1500 installed....
