    equation to prove 1+1=3
    There is a way in maths to prove that 1+1=3. My maths teacher in 1982 showed a step by step equation solving method,using the given rules,to prove this theory. I cannot remember the steps.Can someone/or my teacher if you out there-detail this theory.

    Hi, SAJEETH!

    1 + 1 equals 2. Why would you think that it might equal 3, please? I guess if it wasn't just concerning numbers that there might be a way...

    Thanks!

    1+1=3

    Let x=y. Then 0=1

    x - y + y = y 1=1

    x - y + y y 1=1
    --------- = ---
    x-y x-y add them all

    y y 0+1+1=1+1+1
    1 + --- = ---
    x-y x-y 1+1=3

    1 = 0
