    Typically gently rub your teeth on them - if they're gritty then they're real pearl and not glass. As for the different types of pearl, I don't know

    Rubbing two pearls against each other can reveal if the pearl is real. The real pearl will leave a residue of powder or in other words have a sandy surface.
