    Slavonic meaning is 'Great or Famous'

    Latin meaning is 'Astonishing'

    Hello Poseidon,

    Thank you for answering my question. Mira is the name given to our new born daughter. We are germans living in germany, and have strong connection to india. The second name will be shanti - what means just peace. We are even looking for a third name for her.

    Vielen dank for explaining why you wanted the Sanskrit meaning of Mira and if I may say Mira is a schöner name. So too is Shanti.

    I hope my German is OK as it was a long time ago I lived there. In Münster Westpalia, and have unfortunately forgotten an awful lot.
