    Fiber Capsules
I've got a question about fiber capsule supplements. My doctor thinks I might have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (I tend to go about 4x a day) and wants me to start taking a fiber supplement. He suggested one of the powder additives but I said I'd rather take the pill type and he said that was OK. I looked at Fibercon and generic versions of that and they say it's a fiber laxitive. I don't need a laxative - I'm already going TOO MUCH. Is this what I really want to be adding?? Thanks.

From what I understand, fiber adds bulk to stools, so that it is less watery. So I don't think fiber supplements will necessarily make you go more often, but will perhaps change the 'quality' of the stool. I think it is worth trying. Good luck.
