Muffled hearing
A little over two weeks ago, I was diagnosed with seasonal flu. The symptoms were an incredibly terrible headache and a constant 101 degree fever. The doctor prescribed Lortab for the headache. It did nothing but I took it for about 6 days. I also began taking Ibuprofin (sp?) to help alleviate the fever. After 8 days my headache and fever subsided. However, I was left with a muffled sensation in both ears and my tinnitus, which I have had for many years, was much more pronounced. Question: Why the symptoms and are they reversible?

I have heard of many cases of H1N1 but thought that seasonal flu had not started yet. Where do you live?

In any event you should be returning to your doctor with this issue. While there ask the doc to clarify what you had. My physician told me anyone with the flu right now has Swine flu, H1N1, not the seasonal flu which is still down the road.

I appreciate the opinion. Does the Swine Flu have these symptoms? Any advice on whether there might be something I could do at home? Thanks.

I don't think now is the time to look for home remedies. You were sick, doc medicated you and you now have a hearing loss. Go back to the original doctor to see if his meds could have this side eeffect or if something else is happening to you. The symptoms for H1N1 are pretty much the same as for seasonal flu, which has not arrived here yet.
Fever – particularly a fever of over 100 degrees
Sore throat
Cough
Chills and fatigue
Body aches
Headache
Occasionally, vomiting and diarrhea

Yesterday, on 05/03/07, around 2:30p.m. I was shooting guns with a friend of mine when at some point I removed my ear muffs to do something, and my friend not knowing I did so fired off one right after another 3 or 4 rounds about a foot away from my right side. But just before he started to shoot I...
