    Bodies in Equilibrium PLEASE HELP!!
    I really need help with this question as soon as possible. Thanks

    1 - A comprehensive force of 30 000 N is exerted on the end of a bone 20 cm long with cross-sectional area 3.6 cm2
    a) Will the bone break?
    b)If not, by how much does it shorten?

    The answer depends on the compressibility of the bone, and the overall shear strength of the bone. This information should have been provided to you. Once you have this, you can calculate the N/cm2 that is being exerted on the bone, and if this exceeds the limit of the bone. If it does not, you can find the amount it compresses.
