    I want my medical records
Recently ,I found out that after losing my insurance for three years (medicaid) when I went to the doctor(lame description) they had somehow misplaced all my records.Even the lame doctor who I saw said she was aghast about the whole thing.. PLEASE! She was a horrible doctor!

Lost my Medicaid years ago when my doctor(halfway decent for a Medicaid doc) ordered an MRI and it looked like I was was going to cost some money.I got cut off that that (snap)

    Back to last month..
This doctor was so bad all I wanted was my records so I could take them and flee in hopes of finding a good doctor.

Now when I call I am told I have to pay a dollar per sheet to get what is mine,
I said "have you found my record's " and I get Mamm ,you are not listening to me ! It is a dollar per sheet and I say I have it and then I get put on hold and then disconnected.
    Always!

The bottom line is they lost my records.

Basically a free clinic with doctors who don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground.
    What can I do ?

I can't afford to pay for my records and I wonder what happened to them?
According to this new Doc I saw(lamest of the lame) she is having a big discussion with the administration about that.

    This place is horrible!

The first thing is do no harm, they have done me much harm ,many times,I'm talking unnecessary surgery.Bad medicine that could have killed me.These people are horrible!
    The list is endless.

Maybe I should contact the AG'S office but any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks and thanks for the rant! I could say so much more!

Sorry to tell you but many years ago when I wanted copies of my medical records it was the buck a page thing and I had to pay for it or I couldn't get them. You can't get the originals (sadly) but you ARE entitled to a copy of your records. And you must pay the going rate that the office charges. When I requested medical records from some doctor's offices prices could be as high as $1.50 a page for a specialist's records.

Sorry to hear about your run in with bad/awful doctors. Yes, they are out there in droves. I avoid them like the plague unles I'm 98% dead.

Unfortunately they charge to copy the records. Most doctors do this, even the good ones.

Now, on the bright side... you can go to a new doctor and sign a release and the copies will be forwarded to the new doctor at no cost to you.

I am talking about a very poor health center. They are horrible.
Doctors are the rejects from any good school. If I had not had a semblance of medical knowledge I would have been dead by the hands of these fools!

Unfortunately even bad doctors get licenses... all they have to do is pass school and pass their boards. It's a good thing you have at least a little medical knowledge.

I'm sure the records will be found once you contact the local licensing facility.

Arty - My mother was a private duty nurse for too many years. Many times she would have to pull the doctor aside and tell him outright that his order for drugs could possibly kill the patient if administered under his orders as he had prescribed too much! Mom saved many a poor soul in the hospital as she cared and knew her medicine. Nurses are much better than doctors any day of the week as they actually care. Few doctors nowadays actually care as they've disassociated themselves from the patients.

If I sound harsh about doctors, I'm sorry. I've met some doozies myself in my time who happily misdiagnosed me several times. That's why I stopped going to them. I'd rather risk messing myself up than actually paying them cold, hard cash to have them mess me up. Cheaper that way I guess.

The idea about contacting the licensing agency will definitely help the facility somehow "find" your recorsd. Betcha they were misfiled under someone else's name in their folder. They really aren't missing - just misfiled and the record girls will probably have to search through tons of file folders to find yours. Keep after them though!

Sorry Twinkie... gotta spread the love. But I too have had to question doctor's orders on several occasions. We, at the hospital, are with the patients 24/7 and we learn the dynamics of the patient as well as the two pages of medications they are taking. We know what interacts with what and whether the pt is allergic to certain meds.

Luckily, in my unit, we work as a team for the best of the patient. I have a wonderful OB that I work with that trusts my intuition and lets me suggest treatment options before ordering treatments.
