    Death Penalty
    Hello:

Ohio is looking into backup procedures in case the standard execution techniques fail, as they did on Sept. 15, when technicians at the state prison in Lucasville tried for over two hours to maintain an intravenous connection in order to inject Romell Broom with lethal drugs for the abduction, rape and murder of a teenage girl in 1984.

The governor has stopped further executions while they go back to the drawing board.

If we're going to execute people, how do you think we should do it? Vote for as many items as you wish.

PS> (edited) I'm reminded that I forgot stoning, the firing squad and tarring and feathering.

If the person is a child molester can we mutilate them as well.

I put "Other" as for me it deopends on the crime...

If they raped a child then they themselves get raped repeatedly before being killed...

If they bashed their spouse to death, then perhaps a public stoning would be good.

If they tortured an animal let them be attacked by animals... (ok, OK not death penalty worthy but I would sure enjoy it)

    You get my idea anyway...

What I don't understand is why does it take so long to execute someone after they have been condemned? I work with someone who had to wait THIRTY YEARS to see justice done after 6 members of her family were brutally killed.

I read somewhere that it takes about 1 million dollars, on average, to try, hold, retry, hold some more, and to finally execute a death row prisoner.

In California, it takes more money and time.

Will Scott Peterson ever be executed?

I think capital punishment is a necessary deterrant, but the process is not without flaws.

Have we ever executed an innocent person? I think the answer is indeed yes.

I would rather be put to death by mistake, than to do away with the death penalty.

Like Shaz said, there should be penalty equal to the crime committed.

Child molesters, and child killers, would be subject to the harshest of punishment.

Let the punishment fit the crime.

If someone shoots his victims, let him go before the firing squad.

If he strangles his victims, let him be hung.

If he bashes their skulls in, let him have his skull bashed in.

If he's a serial rapist, let him be raped first and then cut his _________ off and let him bleed to death.

    Or...

We could just go with the Biblical forms of execution, as explained in the talmud:

Skilla - stoning (dropped off a cliff and then stoned)
Srefa - burning (forced to drink molten lead)
Hereg - stabbing (run through with a sword or pike)
Chenek - strangulation (a rope is wrapped around the criminal's neck and both ends of the rope are pulled by two different people)

    That works for me too.

I agree with everything ET has said. But since I am a little twisted I think we should take it a step further then public hangings. Lets make it a Pay Per View event like boxing, wrestling, or MMA. There is a lot of money to be made here. A large portion of the money would go to the victims families and the rest to pay for expenses.

    Hello spit:

I think it should be FREE. What? Poor people shouldn't be allowed to see justice met out? Make it prime time too, and in Hi Def - don't want to leave the kiddies out.

You think EVERYTHING should be free for poor people, regardless of cost. Health care, food, clothing, shelter, cars, TV, gas, electric, cell phones, computers... it should all be free for everyone... and the rich should be taxed to pay for it all... whee.

I think they should do away with prisons all together. They should have jails for petty crimes. Otherwise, put a bullet in their head and let that be the end of it. Don't hold them in a cell and feed them every day. Screw that. They committed a crime so they deserve to be punished. I think people would think twice about raping someone if they knew it meant a bullet in the head or if they stole something and we chopped their hands off. It is only fair. You obey the law or be punished. Is it that hard to understand?

You are right Ex poor people shouldn't be left out. Then how about pay like 5 bucks and watch it at a movie theater. If you want to watch it at home 20 bucks in Standard Def 25 bucks for HD then if you have a TiVo, DVR, or VCR you can record it for the kiddies to watch. It's a Win Win.
