Outstanding warrant for probation violation and sentencing
Ok I have diligently researched most of the questions and replies here on this subject.. probation violations. I guess I am still seeking further info. I am new to this site and my boyfriend was arrested last night. He has had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation for about 4 years now... never caught any new charges (except for last night, which was I believe public intoxication). We reside in Fairfax, VA... my queston is what are we looking at in terms of sentencing? I mean he was initially on probation for a drug charge, and this is the first violation, considering he's been on the run for 4 years... what are the odds that he will serve the remainder of his sentence behind bars? Do you think that the judge and prosecution will consider him being missing in action for the last few years a slap in the face and make an example out of him... please advise

I hate to tell you this newbie, but the law doesn't take kindly to 'on the run'. It would have been better for him if he had turned himself in four years ago. You will have to be prepared for the bad news. It isn't that they will be making an example out of him, it is the fact that he snubbed his nose at the law and took off without honouring his commitments. It wlll be an object lesson.

Remainer of his sentence behind bars at the minimum I would say.

    Hello N:

I think anything is possible. I'd hire a lawyer for him. That'll probably make whatever is possible - less possible .

My boyfriend is in the same thing but he didn't know of the warrant till he got arrested for b.s and the other state is going to pik him up... I've spoken to a few lawyers they say its better to hire an attorney. Or he will have to do the time and its best if he can prove that he's been working and prob going to school and has been out of trouble... good luck girl I know what your going through its hard I tell you and gets harder as time goes by
