    Brushing the teeths
I brush my teeth about 6 times a day. I was told that it is not necessary to use toothpaste every time I brush because of the abrasiveness of it, just using the toothbrush was sufficient.

In your opinion, is that true?

    Any info will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Brushing 6 times a day is not necessary and could cause damage to the gums, just brush twice a day with toothpaste, once after breakfast, and once before bed. Floss once a day before bed too and your teeth and gums should be very healthy.

Dude, 6 times is way too much you'll kill your gums! Do like earl says, and if you want to be extra keen, brush after lunch, and chew sugarfree gum after snacks

You can damage you gums if you brush too hard or with a too-stiff brush. Being thorough and gentle is your best bet. Use toothpaste. A pea-sized amount is fine. Use a soft brush and make sure you brush all tooth surfaces.

Brushing your teeth six times per day is fine, if you like to take the time. Be very gentle and remember that you are both removing debris from gums and gently massaging blood flow into them. You may want to get a Sonicare to use after breakfast and before bed along with flossing.

This information is just what has worked for me. Yes, I used to brush my teeth 6 x in a day. There are a few areas where my gums have receded, I used to brush too hard. Next time you visit a dentist, ask plenty of questions of the hygenist. She'll give you some great information.

Dental floss and brush after each meal.

Six times a day is excessive.
