    Gold stamp 417 and silver stamp 925
    On gold, what does the stamp 417 mean and on silver what does a 925 mean?

    417 is the numerical equation for 10K gold, 417 parts per 1000 or 41.7% gold. 925 is the numerical equation for sterling silver, 925 parts per 1000 or 92.5 % silver.

    Hi I agree with norman 925 means 925 parts of 1000 are silver so 92,5 percent silver usually not english
    I would think as the english have hallmarks,are there other markings?
