Can my accidental eye damage effect my child's vision
When I was 16 I had mistakenly caused damage to my eyes and now I have BAD vision. The eye doctor said by looking through the microscope my left eye is kind of football shaped causng me to only be allowed to wear strong medicated rigid contact lens. No glasses, they said it was some kind of astigmatism I developed. My vision used to be 20/20 and 20/40. Now its nothing like that because of my accident. I want to know if I have a child, will it effect them since its not genetic because my parents and siblings all have good vision except me. I could have been the same way but my eyes got damaged. I NEED TO KNOW!

It will NOT affect your children if the cause was an accident

I agree. If you become a paraplegic from a car accident and have a kid, will they become a paraplegic as well? No, this was an accident. Not genetics. HOWEVER, lots of people have astigmatism. I do. It's not that horrible a thing, just wear the corrective lenses that your doctor prescribes, and get your eyes checked yearly.

P.S. I'm sorry to hear of your accident.

I agree: accidents are not genetic.

I feel sorry for my kids: they're going to hate me and my glasses!
My lenses are so thick, they can start fires on Mars!

I'm nearsighted, I think. I always get them mixed up. In any case, I'm BLIND! I can't see past a few inches clearly. Not even a few inches.

When I take out my contacts, everyone is bald, has no facial features, and they look like someone threw paint on them instead of clothes. It's trippy. Words disappear! *DUN DUN DUN*

WAIT who are you talking to? LOL.

I used to wear glasses because I thought they were cool... not that I needed them.
