I used to be on here almost 24/7.

I don't think I'm that addicted anymore but at times I can't seem to stop staring at the monitor so I end up popping in the a babysign DVD for my toddler so I can sit here a little longer ;)

I've noticed that my fingers are growing longer, my eyes seem larger (cause I am usually in a trance here) and what's left of my brain is in power reserve mode...

Ahhh I think you just described the stage I am going into.
My eyes are growing dim and I am finding myself in a trance and my brain has been in neutral mode.

I think I am glad I posted this now I can KNOW what stages to look forward to.

Well... I've noticed that I can type a lot faster than before I found this site. I actually have coworkers once in a while wondering what the heck I'm typing since it's not really something I ever need to do unless I'm sending someone an email. Actually one of my friends at work just the other day was like, "Dang, where did you learn to type so fast?" and then another guy "You're not looking at the keys at all? You're sitting here talking to me and you're not even looking? Seriously?" I guess I have been spending quite a bit of time on here especially since my hours changed drastically at work for the last 2 months.

Sending for take out cause I'm so wrapped up in a post.

    Chain smoking.
    Toxic levels of coffee.
Not sleeping because I'm pondering over a question.
Suddenly realising I've spend 6 hours of my day off on the boards.

What I want to know is... what makes it addictive?

What am I getting out of it?

I'm past counting posts,or caring about greenies or reddies..

    I have a problem.

Yeah I can relate especially the SUDDENLY realizing I've spent 8 hrs on my day off on the boards and didn't even get one load of laundry in.

I don't have the pondering problem. I guess because by the time I pull my fingers off the keyboard it is 12:30 pm and I fall to sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.

    Ah sure could be worse!

In saying all that,I have learned a lot from reading answers to posts, plus my job is mentally stressful and I find the site gives my mind something else to ponder!

I just told my son and my boyfriend almost a month ago... they were picking on me for my ''addiction'' I said yeah what do you expect when you all don't want to listen to anything I have to say. At least on the internet I can have real conversations and learn things.

I'm the opposite,my daughters never stop talking,I often tell them I'm doing stuff for work and to leave me alone!

I work with people who have a lot of mental health issues and disabilities,so in a way,I am working, practicing my trade... at least that's what I tell myself!

Could AMHD be a hobby? At the very least an interest?

I also wonder do we all have a need to help.. are the regular AMHD posters a type of person?

I'm also totally addicted to garlic mayo at the moment.

    Sure call it a hobby...
I can live with that description.

After all manicurists are now called nail technicians
    Car washers are called detailers
Garbage men are called waste managers

What type of person are we at amhd..

Hmmm I guess maybe Dear Abby wannabe's ?

Yeah, I am truly addicted. I used to just pop in during down time at work... now I seem to be avoid mundane work, just to help here.

There are days when the site is so interesting, I skip lunch, don't go to the bathroom, forget that I am a smoker...

Of course without popping in and being on all day, I have SO much to go through when I do make it on, so the best alternative is to never break... can't have AMHD falling behind. :D
