    Jeep or Toyota?
So, I just sold my beloved car, and am in the market for a new car... preferably an SUV (I know, the gas mileage is absurd, but I need it to carry lots of stuff)

    I looked at a 2008 Jeep Laredo... vs 2008 Toyota 4runner.

They have the equal amounts of miles, and the price is about the same... so I'm trying to decide here.

I've driven toyotas before and I have a certain notion of them, but I was wondering about jeeps. Jeep owners: how's your jeep? How many miles do you have on yours?

Well how much stuff you looking at carrying around?
Also what ever you will be carrying, do you care if the weather gets to it?

Is the toyota 4 door or 2? And the same with the jeep

Toyota 4runner's a 4 door SUV, jeep as well.

Yes, weather is a huge factor... so an SUV, not a truck, would be best.

sorry I was thinking of the toyota trucks.

as for quality, I know people who have jeeps, and love them. The inline 6 motor is a great choice for reliability. As for the toyota, they are great. I would look up how much the future maintenance costs will be. But also assuming they are 4X4, I would see which has better traction for off road, assuming you will be taking it off road.

How often do you want to be in the repair shop? If the answer is not often, buy the Toyota

Consumer Reports has extensive reviews on all automobiles. Their ratings for these two vehicles are vastly different.

For this sort of intended use I would not pick either of them! Their fuel economy is horrible, the resale value is bad and they are way too large for a steady diet of in town commuting. Why not look at crossovers or "cute utes" instead. Far better economy, easier to maneuver and park in town and still large enough to carry a reasonable amount of junk. Toyota Rav4, Suzuki Grand Vitara, are but two in this crowded segment of the market.

Well, thank you for the list of other cars... but I guess the main reason I'm asking is because I've been to the dealerships and I'm already actually in the middle of deciding between these two cars. I understand the fuel economy's pretty bad (when compared to the hybrid nation), but these two are the choices I have come down to.

    So far, it's...

    4runner - 1
    Jeep - 2

Toyota -- they are like the Energizer Bunny.
