Dimmer switch for a fan and light
I have installed a dual dimmer switch for a light and fan on the same switch. I can adjust the fan speed only from one side but every time I adjust the light switch, the fan also adjusts according to how I adjust the light. I have a black(hot) wire, a red wire and a bare copper cable coming from the wall. I have a green, black, red and yellow wire on the dimmer switch. I connected the green to the bare copper wire, the black to black(hot), the yellow to the red(fan) and the red dimmer switch wire to a black wire that was capped off by itself in the box. How can I get the fan and light to adjust independently and not have the fan adjust when I adjust the light?

Try switching the wire going to the fan with the hot lead. Something isn't wired right at your switch. It sounds like the light wire is connected properly, the power wire is connected where the fan's supposed to be, and the fan wire is connected where the power is supposed to be.

    It should be:

Black - 120vAC source (probably black)
Yellow - fan (black or red)
Red - light (black or red)
