    Nautical terms
The internet might not be very helpful but here's a good hint: a lot of nautical terms in English come from Norse or Old Norse.
I suppose you could do a search on 'Norwegian language'; maybe some of Norway's tourist info sites would have something about Norway's historical influence and the influence the merchants, vikings etc had on present day English language.

You could try this site; it has the definitions and a bit of history for the word.
