    Are we related?
    Hi, I just found out that a girl I like has a granny (her mums mum) who is cousins with my granny (my dads mum). Basically would just like to know are we related?

    Thanks for replying, but what do you mean a shirts tail? How far distant cousins? Should I be worried, is it OK to still see her as I really like her.

    The relation is distant. You share 1 out of 32 great-great grandparents. That is really negligible and nothing to be concerned about.

    Aww I really didn't want this to be true, isn't this wrong? People will frown upon it. I thought that we were third cousins to each others grannies but not related in anyway ourself

    If your grannies were first cousins, their children are second cousins to each other, and the children's children are third cousins to each other.

    Yes, you two are related, distantly. No, there is nothing wrong with 3rd cousins dating. In the event you marry and have children, the gene pool has been greatly stirred up by additional people along the way. No one will frown on it.
