    Penile vacuum pumps
I am 70 yers old and have Parkinsons Disease. Until recently my wife and are have been sexually active. When I began to have erectile problems, initially I used a vacuum pump, but I found these unreliable, Eventually I persuaded my doctor to prescribe Viagra, Which he reluctantly agreed to , giving me 25 mg tablets. These were totally ineffective. It took a great amount of persuasion by my wife and I for him to give me reluctantly, 50 mg tablets. I have found that even with wonderful stimulation by my wife, I was able only to raise a semi stiff erection, which did not last. My question is, would it cause any problems if I took 75mg or even 100 mg Viagra. My health is otherwise very good , my blood pressure is 120/80. Also my penis seems to have shrunk whilst in its flaccid state. Please help as we are unable to discuss this with my doctor, for a variety of reasons.

Unfortunately, you MUST discuss this with your doctor. Medication dosages are according to weight, BMI (body mass index) and BSA (body surface area). If anyone here tries to tell you that this is okay it could be extremely dangerous to your health.

You should NEVER, EVER, dose your medications without your doctor's approval.

I know this is not the answer you want to hear, but it is the healthiest answer.

Maybe there is another reason that you don't get hard, possibly a problem with another medication you are taking.
And of course I know nothing about your likes or dislikes there are different way that you or your wife could turn you on, have you ever considered porn?

Thank you both for your responses to my problem. To J9 I WILL talk to my GP Before I do are there any alternatives to Viagra if so what are and do they work in the same way?
To Letmetellu, I have tried porn but it results in me masterbating by myself with a half erect penis. I am not sure about my wife, she is no prude but today's porn can be quite off-putting, hiowever I shall give it some thought.

Thank you both for taking time to help me.

You can call your pharmacist and ask him what the best alternatives to Viagra are. The pharmacist is your best friend when it comes to meds. You can call him/her anonymously if you want. Just tell him/her what you are looking for and he/she can guide you in the right direction.

Docs know all the medical terminology and diagnoses, but pharmacists must be more up-to-date on the actual meds.

I agree that, when reading your original post, that porn really could not help at this point in time.

However, I am wondering what meds you are currently on for your Parkinson's. Many drugs have ED as a side-effect. I wonder if there is an alternative med that has less of an ED side-effect that would be possible for you to take.

Good luck, and please, keep me posted. I may learn something from this.
