    Opion on baby name
I am 7 months pregnant with a baby girl. I would like her middle name to be Hope, after her great-grandmother, but I don't want to spell it the way hers was spelled, I would like it to be a little unique... I don't know if there is any other way to spell it, but if someone has any ideas I would appricate it.:)

I like Hope just the way it's spelled - it's beautiful (and it really can't be spelled any differently without looking stupid).

    Hoope - no
    'Ope (Cockney) - no
    Hoppe - no
    Hopee - no
    Hopi - no
    Hopy - no
    Howpe - no

What will the baby's first name be?

I agree, there isn't really a way to change the spelling of Hope and have it sound nearly as nice. If you wanted to branch from it you could use words with similar meanings such as Faith, or you could perhaps find a foreign word that means the same thing.

Sorry gals I disagree, It can be changed.

Haha, Hohp, just kiding. :p Hmmm,

I know that you could just spell it any way you want, say like Huohpe, or huoepe. It doesn't matter really, because if you don't change the sound, Hope is hope no matter what you spell it as.

    Here is Latin versions:
"As a noun, spes, spei. As a verb, spero, sperare, speravi, speratus."- WikiAnswers
    (not 100% reliable)

    "Estel: Sindarin word for 'Hope'"-
    http://rivendell.fortunecity.com/hob...dictionary.htm
    (Estel - ehst-ell)

But yeah, I guess there isn't any other ways to change it up.

You could go with Hoap... but that just looks like Soap.

Why change a good thing? It's beautiful with Destinee

I agree with the others that trying to change such a simple name like Hope can tend to come off a bit silly.

Another thing you want to consider is your child. Because as she gets older spelling a common name in some ridiculous way looks well... ridiculous. NOt to mention being a pain in the arse having to constantly correct people on the spelling of it. Think about: Jenipher, Ginnifer, Myshel, Merry... etc. (no offense to anyone whose names may be spelled that way :o)

But you've already "spiced up" the spelling of her first name; leave Hope the way it is.

    I get that a lot :(
My name is Sharyl and everyone pronounces it like it rhymes with 'barrel'
    It's nothing like that lol
It actually sounds more like 'sharp' with the p taken off
Then rule as in 'ruler' (shar-rule)

Her first name has an unusual spelling. Keep the proper spelling for her middle name. Destinee Hope is a beautiful name.

As a little side question, no offense to the OP but why do people feel the need to change the spelling of names just to make them "interesting"? It is only interesting when viewed written... not when spoken.

Always keep your child's happiness in mind when you decide on a name. Whatever you name the baby is for life. Do not give your child a name that would cause her grief. There are too many parents who are selfish and do not take their child into mind when deciding a name.

I think that Destinee Hope is a fine, pretty name.
