    Illness and fetal death
I am 17 and a half weeks pregnant with my second child. I have been very relaxed during this pregnancy. It has been so much easier than the first. No morning sickness and I’m carrying very small. I also saw a normal looking baby on the ultrasound at 16 weeks. However, I got extremely ill about a week ago. I have not been able to eat as much as normal (although I shove at least one meal down each day). My weight dropped by a few pounds. I was starting to feel LITTLE movements in the last few weeks and in the last 4 days I have felt nothing. I am worried the baby is dead because of my poor diet and illness. Should I be worried about this or is it probably nothing?

More than likely it is nothing... baby is very well protected when you are ill and can deal with quite a bit. It is not unusual to not feel a great deal of movement at this stage, but you might find drinking something cold and having a lie down allows you notice some of those slight movements.

You could always check with your doctor or midwife and ask about stopping in real quick at the office just to listen to the heartbeat for some reassurance. They usually won't mind and you probably wouldn't even need an appointment.
