I have been suffering with this condition for over 4 years now and I am 16 years of age... I never have had the chance to speak to a person with the same condition and feel quite alone.. Is there anyone else out there?

Have you seen a physician? There could be a underlying cause to your condition because someone so young shouldn't be experiencing such feelings. My wife has anemia meaning her iron is very low and needs iron infusions a couple times a year to get her stores up and then blood tests every few months to monitor them iron supplements are a waste of time for her . She gets fatigued when her stores get low, she has no other conditions, she is only about 5'4 120lbs and I mean dozing off at 5pm after work or at 2pm on a Sat.
I have constant fatigue and am on disability because I have chronic pain from a bad back. I also have a pituitary tumor that has caused a problem with my testosterone levels being low so they put me on androgel a testosterone medication. This was supposed to make me feel better and initially it did, I was like a teenager chasing my wife around.. lol... anyway I began feeling tired again and to make a long story short the added testosterone raised my red blood count to a high level which can be dangerous if left untreated, this causes me to be fatigued, lower my testosterone lowers my red blood count and I feel better but then I feel worse from lack of testosterone so it's a double edge sword. I was told by a hematologist/oncologist that besides finding a perfect combination of testosterone that gives me the right levels of testosterone and keeps my blood count in a safe level my only best option is drink plenty of water and exercise, something that is hard to do when for one I have constant back pain and am tired.
So I included all this info to give you an idea on how different conditions of just the blood alone can cause fatigue, one is low iron and one is high red count both causing fatigue, which is why its so important to see a physician and get diagnosed properly, because an undiagnosed untreated underlying conditions can lead to a more serious condition.

    Good Luck

Hi Harriet. Hope you're still here or check in. Answer is yes. Have you ever had mono? Do you have EBV? CFS is very debilitating. Other illnesses do have to be ruled out. I'm curious what exactly your limitations are and what other symptoms you have besides fatigue. People think that someone is just simply tired. There's a difference between being tired and "sick tired". Sometimes food allergies are not even severe enough for you to even know you may have but they can indeed make you incredibly exhausted as to where you have no choice but to sleep. If I try to push myself, I can't when I'm having an "episode" I'll call it for now. I will drop to the ground and won't be able to move. Also, people are confused because you can look healthy and be in a positive mental state even but they have no idea whatsoever how awful you really feel. I hope you sign on soon. I'd like to know more about it. I'm hoping that you either have the type where you will have bouts of remission or the possibility that it is hopefully something else.

Yes, you need to find out what is causing the problem. Sometimes exercise and a change in diet will help make improvements. You may have environmental toxicity from almost anything too.

Hey there. Gosh knows I've been trying to copy/paste a site here for you but I can't. I'm sure it's something simple but I have to try another time or ask/search for help here. It's very informational and it might help you a lot. It's also pretty interesting. Just wanted you to know again that you're not alone. I didn't ask your age but it's somewhat important when trying to possibly figure out the recovery rate and so forth. I especially wanted you to see it because it does tell you some things you can do and what to expect. Hope you're feeling better. :)

    Hi there,
I have had CFS for 2 years and I am 13 years old. Would you like to email me and maybe we can support each other? It is very hard for me because I am unable to attend school or socialise.

Hiya Emma/Jewel. I wonder where Harriet is. That is awful that you cannot attend school or socialize. I'm considered one of the lucky ones. I have long periods of remission but as you already know, the disease is real. Anyone that doubts it, you just tell them to check with the CDC. I have only had limitations in the past but you sound like you have it bad. Like M.S. there are different variations. Some people go into remission for 10 years and others end up in wheelchairs. This is with M.S. Just using it as an example. I will email you very soon because I would like to know more. Maybe and hopefully there is something else triggering your symptoms. Sometimes people are often misdiagnosed as well. When I do email you, I have many questions for you so
Be prepared. Some are personal and some are not. Were you actually tested? If you'd rather wait till I email you that is just fine. I though maybe it may help other people if they ever look this up. I keep in touch with many people from this site that I have exchanged (personal) email addresses with.

Please be well! And know what? I'm going to email you right now so that you have my email address.
    Hang in there!
