    Pfizer sweepstakes publishers
I got this letter from pfizer payout financial inc, group of publishers sweepstakes yesterday and the amt for this check is 2,980.00, now this look legit as all heck and ready to cash this but, very leary a about it. The letter goes as this international promotions/prize award dept congratulations we are please to inform you that you are a winner! In the international promotion prize sweepstakes lottery program, that was held march 10, 2009. It gives me the ticket number and serial number and the first category of $65,000.00 dollars. They tried to contact me and unfortunately we were unable to reach you. The purpose of this letter is to explain how you can claim your cash prize. For you to be able to claim your prize there are fees of a calculated amount of $2980.00. They enclosed a check payable to me for that amt, they went on saying I need to call a number in fl to let them know I got the check and a 10% will be deducted from your cash prize to repay the fees. The drawing was in las vegas.
Below is a bar code then a closing signature. I was reading earlier on this site that a lady is going through the same this. I will call the bank that is in wachovia bank na, in greensboro, nc. Also, this check is from pfizer inc New York ny. The check is from pfizer and it has it's logo stamp on this check, the number though for reference on the ck is weird because it starts as a Ny then 11 digits after it. So, if anyone can help us out would be greatly appreciated.

    SCAM, SCAM, SCAM

Pfizer is a pharmaceutical company, not a sweepstakes company. If they had your address to send this junk why couldn't they just send the check?

    Anyway sorry
A good bit of info to remember is
If you never entered a contest and get a message you won, It's a scam
If you get a letter or email and it states that you won and than has anywhere in it that there are Fees. Delete or trash it This is a scam
At no time will a Real Contest prize allowed to Charge the winner.
If in fact you win a prize in most cases they will call and let you know or have sent by registered mail or fed Ex the paper work and affidavit about your winnings and you sign it and return it NEVER give banking info You should not have to give any really identifying info.
There is a great site Just for contests called

I just received the same letter over the weekend. Same check in the amount of $2980.00 too. It peaked my curiosity enough to consider contacting them as is required in the letter. However, in my estimation, any company who sends you a check that you need to deposit in order to receive prize money is only trying to obtain your private banking information to scam you. I don't trust it. Has anyone else followed up with this company?
