    Switch keeps popping breaker
    Hi
I was try to hook up an outside light to an existing connection for a friend.

The original install consisted of using the circuit from the receptacle used for the refrigerator, to power the switch for a light in panty and outside.

First off the switch is a duplex type, or a double switch able to be used in a single gang box.

I hooked up the light outside to the switch... when I turned on the pantry light (which worked before hooking up ) it popped the 20 amp breaker.

I then proceeded to check them individually, I connected the hot and Switch leg in a wire nut for the pantry light and used the switch for th eoutside light... and nothing went wrong both lights and the refrigerator stayed on.

I did the same with the other switch leg and hot, and same conclusion.

I think it may be the switch itself, but not sure, I tried a new duplex type, but I'm thinking maybe its too much power for the switch, and might need separate switches?

I hope someone can give me an answer :D

OK, I found the problem, the previous electrician as he calls himself :D
Wired the outlet for the fridge and the lights on the same phase in two different panels I had no idea that could even be the problem until I looked at it closer :D
