    F1 visa related issue
    Hi there
    I am currently on H4 visa I got enrolled in my masters programme on H4 and now I need to apply for F1 visa .Now if I apply it now Feb 2009 ,I would be getting it in month of May 2009 and I need to be on f1 for atleat one yr i.e. May 2010.My question here is
    1. Can I apply for H1B with F1 status ?
    2. If I travel out of country on F1 will that period which I travel will be counted on F1 for my OPT time

    Your post is a bit confusing. If you are in valid H-4 or F-1 you can file for the COS to H-1B. Please note the H's have run out the last few years, so if you want to file for this year, file April 1, 2009.

    Time outside the US during your OPT counts towards the one year of EAD elibibility.
