    Obama and the 2nd Amendment
From the Bill of Rights: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

From Obama: "The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today." ABC News: Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban

You a member of a well regulated militia? Is it the National Guard? Cause that is the only well regulated militia in this country.

    Hello George:

The Fourth Amendment says the government shouldn't spy on us either, but THAT doesn't seem to bother you too much...

I don't know... If you pick which Amendments to support, you're going to lose them ALL.

    What?

Those folks along the Mexican border NEED more powerful weapons to protect themselves from the Mexican drug gangs!

So the AG wants citizens to defend themselves with 6 shot revolvers while the gangs have armor piercing automatic weapons?

    Hello again, in:

Where do you think the Mexican drug cartels get their guns?? From US, of course. Read about it here:

They got them illegally or by skirting the laws here.

Besides, would stricter gun laws really stop criminals, who get their guns illegally, from committing crimes? The government would have to make the PRODUCTION of ALL assault weapons illegal. Then these criminals, being smarter than the average politician, would import these weapons.

How about the US citizens, are they allowed to arm themselves to protect their own property, family, and liberty?

Of course it will never happen but legalize drugs, government controls the drugs, drug cartels go away in time, then no need for automatic weapons to protect yourself.

    Hello again, in:

I'M not the one who picks and chooses which Amendments to support. I support them ALL, and just as loudly too.

But, all this stuff is easily solved. Really. It's EASY!!

The super violent drug cartels in Mexico are a product of OUR drug war. So, if we ended the drug war, the super violent drug cartels will have to sell shrimp.

I know you don't believe me... I don't know why. Go down to your corner... See that store that sells liquor?? Those sales used to be supported by super violent drug (liquor) cartels... Now they're run by your grandfather...

I don't understand what's so difficult to understand...

I am in favor of legalizing marijuana, but would you want the government to just legalize, regulate, tax meth as well?

Legalization does not make the social or criminal ills go away. Legal drug like alcohol, oxcontin etc.. can still be abused.

It is not only weed that they make in Mexico ;)

    Hello again, in:

Yes. It's PROHIBITION that's the problem - not the drug.

Besides, I don't see meth as any more dangerous than tobacco or alcohol. And, it certainly isn't dangerous to me. In fact, tobacco and alcohol kills more than all the illegal drugs COMBINED.

So, you certainly can't be concerned with the public health aspect of meth addiction. If you were, you'd want meth addiction to be a HEALTH problem instead of a LEGAL problem. If it were, of course, addicts could get treatment... They can't now.. And, those who don't want treatment could buy their drugs cheaply and get loaded just like the guy who buys a six pack and gets loaded.

You don't think, do you, that meth makes you steal, but beer doesn't?

When the Constitution was adopted, this country did not have a standing army.
The MILITA consisted of all able-bodied men who could be called on to resist invasion.
I hear Switzerland still does that.
    Am I wrong?

    Edit:
I do believe that you can own any kind of firearm you want to, including fully automatic, as long as you pay the government their price for allowing you to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights.
Which poses the question, if I have to pay the government, is it a right, or a purchased privilege?

Aw heck lets legalize all drugs and prostitution while we are at it. That way we can become a socialistic nation of pot heads paying for legal sex on the street corner just like Holland! Take the guns, give us more free drugs!

Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will join House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in opposing any effort to revive the 1994 assault-weapons ban, putting them on the opposite side of the Obama administration.

Reid spokesman Jim Manley said the Nevada Democrat will preserve his traditional pro-gun rights voting record.

"Sen. Reid would oppose an effort [to] reinstate the ban if the Senate were to vote on it in the future," Manley told The Hill in an e-mail late Thursday night.

It was not immediately clear whether Reid would block the bill from the Senate, but his opposition casts serious doubt on its chances. Also, Manley noted that Reid voted against the ban in 1994 and again when it expired in 2004.

Reid's stance joins him with Pelosi, who told reporters Thursday that the administration had not checked with her before Attorney General Eric Holder told reporters the administration would attempt to reinstate the ban. Pelosi gave a flat “no” when asked if she had spoken to Holder or any other administration officials about the issue.

Looks like this will be another test ;like the bucket list stimulus bill ,to see which branch of government is steering the ship of state .

Pelosi is also challenging the President over issues of Iraq withdrawal and his opposition to Stalinist show trials against the Bush Administration.

Pelosi is also challenging the President....
If he weren't so dangerous, I'ld feel sorry for him. He is looking very weak; I thought his appearance and response with the marines was pathetic. He is commander-in-chief in title, only.
