    Depo Provera
I was on the Depo shot for a little over a year. I was put on it to try and stop abnormal bleeding. I have recently read on many sites that you should not even take depo if you have unknown bleeding. anyways, i always had abnormal periods and when i was on the shot i didnt get my period at all. I stopped taking the shot in january and i got my period right away and it was actually getting my period once a month from then on but now 8 months later i am now a month and a half late (so my last period was 2 1/2 months ago. Im not sure if something is wrong. my periods before the shot were always late and abnormal but not this late....is this common 8 months after taking depo? I did take two at home preg tests and they were negitive. i also have been having some nausea.

Well, being on depo for this long it is not uncommon for you to be experiencing the effects that you are. This drug takes quite a long time to get out of your system and even longer for those who take it for a length of time.

Having said that, it is always advisable to visit your doctor if you are experiencing unusual or no bleeding.

I was on depo provera for over a year as well. The reason I had been taken off it was because in the beginning, I didn't get my period for approx. 6 months. which was great don't get me wrong. Then, my periods did start to come back, and I literally had it every single day. My dr. told me that it just affects people differently. I think what is going on with you is common, it is just simply how YOUR body is. If it does bother you, and you've spoken with your dr. about the side effects, then I suggest you stop it all together. Something just doesn't seem natural about not getting your period at all, yknow?

Not getting you period can be a side-effect of Depo.

However, do not stop it altogether without speaking with your doctor first!!

Post Depo Provera [ 2 Answers ]

Hi- I looked through the other posts and nothing really answered my question. I was on Depo Provera from September 2005 through May 2006. Since the time I left Depo this past May, I've had a brown discharge. The discharge has been consistent throughout these past three or so months, and I've had to...
