    I want to share my scanner on lan
    Hi all...

    Please tell me that how can I share my scanner which is connected with one of my 5 pc's on Lan. I wants to share scanner for other users can access that scanner while the actual pc/pc user is busy in other work. If in this case any other want to scan the document then they can make it...

    Please tell me how is this possible to share my scanner on lan like any printer.we are using windows 98.

    I'm not sure that this is possible. I haven't seen this setup anywhere, as a scanner is an input device and not output (like a printer). It's a bit like sharing a mouse or keyboard, they only usually work with the local machine they are connected to.

    I will have a quick browse to see if anything shows up though :)

    Hmm, Those sites Stu found are interesting. I would have said, that, unless the scanner was designed as a network scanner, it could not be networked.

    However, I offer one issue. To scan something, you have to physically place it on the scanner. That means you need be at the scanner to do so. So what advantage do you have when you have to go to the scanner, place the document to be scanned in it, then go back to your PC to run the scan software. Seems to me to be easier to just ask person to scan it to a shared drive.

    BTW, some of the all-in-ones that have built in netwokring support network scanning.
