My vet is out for the weekend so I can't call to ask him, thought someone here might have some advice to give-

My 4 yr old pomapoo has seizures periodically- the vet said that there's no way to definitively tell what is causing them, and as long as they are not very often or last for a very long time, he advises against medicating him unnecessarily, which I think makes sense. He said it is not necessary to contact him after every seizure, just to keep track of them, how often they occur and how long they last- and if there are any significant changes to let him know.

Well, his most recent seizure was pretty similar to others, with one exception- he was swinging himself back and forth, backed up into me and I was just petting him and holding him... then he started wretching and there was this awful swooshing sound-- and he just shot out a stream of vomit, at first all foamy and mucous-y and then all of his dinner-

Is this anything to be extremely concerned about? He's perfectly fine now, just like himself again- but that swooshing sound he made before throwing up just scared the crap out of me. I don't know what to make of it-

I plan on calling the vet Monday to let him know, just wanted some input in the meantime.

My lab has seizures very similar to that, his are caused by epilepsy.

We did have him on meds, but they made him extremely lethargic. We took him off them. Now he's on green beans. Yup, green beans. He hasn't had a seizure since 2001, so obviously it's working.

The throwing up is common with seizures but informing your vet is a good idea. In the meantime, why not try the green beans, they can't hurt, and could stop the seizures altogether.

This was vet recommended by the way. :)

He may have been holding it in for some time and that is why it made that sound. My niece used to have projectile vomiting and it would blast out with such force it actually had wind to it.At least it sounded like it did.

Keep him hydrated if at all possible and since he seems fine now,just give him the love he's used to getting and as you said see the vet Monday.

Its so hard to know sometimes what to do with animals.We want to give them the same medical treatments as humans but we can't be sure what is safe.
