    Rejuvinating a clock or watch
Years ago I remember reading about putting watches or clocks in the oven on a low temperature for a specified amount of time. This was supposed to thin the lubricant so it would work OK. It must have been one of those Heloise hints or something like that. Does anyone know anything about this? I can't find anything on the net.

I would be suspect of old advice... unless its an old watch too. There's no telling how much plastic or other heat sensitive material is used inside more modern watches. Not that it would ruin the watch (its already a loss) but rather could make for very uncool fumes? Just a thought here.

Agreed Val, you need to be very careful with fumes etc ! Most modern day objects are full of all kinds of poisons you sure would not want to be having going into your body.

Thanks.. It was an old, small ornate clock. It is nice to look at without working. Syl

Clock [ 4 Answers ]
