    Troy Bilt Won't Fire
    Troy Bilt Model #3AQ609G063, 18hp B/S engine Twin II (model # for engine is42A707). I replaced the starter,solenoid, and it has a new battery. When I turn the key nothing. I jump the solenoid and the starter turns. I jump the starter and it turns. There is plenty of gas getting to the carb but, no fire from the plugs. Question is this... Do I need a new ignition switch? And, what's up with it getting no fire? It was working fine until the starter went out. Thanks...

    Did you take the shroud off when replacing the starter? Make sure you didn't pinch that one wire from the coil (small usually black in color) that's the kill wire.

    Yes, I took the shroud off. I inspected the kill wire and everything appears okay. I even tried to start the mower with it disconnected. I checked for a spark from both spark-plugs grounding them to the engine block only to get no spark. Could it be the coil? But what puzzles me is that I get nothing from the ignition switch when I turn the key... I'm puzzled if it's not the coil.

    UPDATE:::

    I replaced the coil and the plugs and it starts right up... BUT,, The parts man told me to disconnect the kill wire and to attach a test light. He stated that if I got light then I had a short somewhere and it could end up me burning up the coil again... I have looked everywhere. I still have to jump the mower off due to my ignition switch not working. I suppose that is the only thing I have not replaced yet...

    Good, you turn the switch to the on posistion and jump the solenoid right? The switch sounds (right now) good. Cheap the replace though.
