About piece of tooth in my gum
I have a knot on my gum where my tooth was pulled 6-7 weeks ago & it hurts plus now it is swelling. The nurse told me that the dentist here leaves a piece of tooth in when he pulls a jaw tooth. Have you ever heard of anything like that?

I have been going to dentists for AGES. The teeth I have lost were jaw
Teeth, and NEVER did a dentist intentionally leave a piece of tooth in.

I strongly suggest that you seek treatment from another dentist, as
You may have developed an abscess which could potentially enter the
Bloodstream and/or affect the brain. Not trying to alarm you, but
Better safe than sorry. Ask friends or family to suggest a dentist whom
They have been satistifed with. Don't just sit and suffer and hope it will
    Get better on its own.
