    Ducks
We had a duck in our yard about 1 and a half weeks ago. She had 10 eggs. We went out of town for a little while and found only 5 eggs left and egg shells. The mother duck never came back for her other eggs. Will those eggs die because the mother duck isn't there to keep them warm? Or will the mother come back?

They are likely already dead since incubation temperatures are pretty critical. And mama duck is likely long gone since it sounds like something traumatic drove her off. I had a baby duck as a pet once. It came in the big easter basket my friends gave me. My mom pitched a fit when she found it in the tub with me. My parents insisted and so I eventually released it into a big river where other ducks were, and it took to them instantly and never looked back. But for a while it lived in a nest inside a hatbox under my bed and followed me around like I was its mother. Sigh.

Here is a good site for the hatching of ducks from eggs. It says that the eggs can be stored in a cool place for 7-10 days but be mindful that your eggs may have been too cold at night or too hot in the day too?

PS You could have posted this question on the first thread instead of starting a new one and it would have been answered there too!
