    The Quintessential Taste of Summer
Okay, for me foods really connect the seasons so with that said, its not really summer until I have made either a blueberry or rhubarb pie - YUM! :p
(And noooo its not really summer ALL THE TIME in Florida... we do actually have seasons here too ha ha)
What's your must-have summer culinary connection, hmmmm?

I agree with Philly - though I BBQ in the dead of winter (shovel path to BBQ on the deck) summer is the season to do it with a beer or glass of wine in hand.

Sorry to be a bit boring but for me Summer hasn't arrived until we get our first English crop of NEW SPUDS!! ( Bugger the cholesterol - Pass the salty butter! ) :D

I won't buy the Egyptian and Majorcan ones these days - I prefer to hang on for our own and get that first hit. ( Mind you - I am in Lincolnshire where the best spuds grow )

You got the wrong spuds Val ;)

These are little baby ones where the skins just about drop off on their own when rubbed under running water - boiled or steamed.

Have them hot with fresh lamb and mint sauce and butter.

Cold with salads - or deep fried.

I think we're spoiled these days with foods being grown all over the world - but these last few years I've noticed that if I don't bother with the imported ones - that flavour from the locally grown (probably less than 24 hours out of the ground) takes me straight back to childhood.

Hanging onto the anticipation of corn on the cob and watermelon. Goodness

Title: Last Day of Summer - 1984 [ 8 Answers ]

This was a British Movie that seemed to make quite a splash in '84. Someone asked me about it last week and I can't find anything on it except that Graham McGrath played the main character. Anyone have a synopsis on the movie? Also, is it available anywhere?
