    Not sure, sorry. But I do know, that in times past, the English used odd spellings for certain words primarally in printing. You'll often see old printed books, especially from the 18th century and before, where the letter F replaces the letter S. Also, there was no standard way of spelling words until the late 1700's when Johnson printed the first English dictionary.
