    Why is it
Why is it you always hear about quitting smoking but hardly hear about smokeless tobacco.

Why Don't they offer some kind of help. They give you this nasty stuff and it taste like ****. It does not help either.

I would like some help I have been chewing sense I was 13 and am now 27.
I would like to quit so that my kids don't pick up the bad habit by watching me.

    Any suggestions.

It's the nicotine. It's very addictive. Try replacements, like inhalers or gum or even the patch.
You can do this if you want to.

Reading about things that have happened to some people due to chewing tobacco can be a great motivator.

I can tell you what happened to both my ex husband and his brother who chewed smokeless tobacco, thinking it was safer than smoking cigarettes.

They both developed white spots on their tongues, thinking it was harmless, they continued chewing. His brother developed those spots on the roof of his mouth too, but decided it was harmless, just white spots, so who cared? My ex had the white spots on the inside of his cheeks. That was when he finally saw a doctor, who sent him to a cancer specialist. A biopsy was done and yes, it was a form of cancer. The doctor said good thing you came in now - if you quit chewing and if the spots do not go away in three months, come back - to discuss treatment options. That was enough to scare my ex into quitting. But his brother kept on chewing. The spots developed in his larnyx and grew. He ended up having his larynx taken out.

Now someone else can argue that chewing smokeless tobacco and cancer has thing in common. But I disagree and is it really worth taking that chance?

Will power is the way. My mum had her last cigarette on christmas day 2006. Since then she hasn't touched a cigarette. She has also not touched any patches or any inhalers. If inhalers worked our parents would be given them when were born just in case. Look at your lifestyle and look at the lifestyle your kids could have and then you'd know what to do.

Sorry to be so late, but you might try this site: Chattahoochee Herbal Snuff - Quit Chewing Tobacco, Quit Dipping with our Mint Snuff or Spitfire Snuff

If you Google "quit dipping," you'll find all sorts of web sites. Talk to your doc, and see if the patch/gum might be right for you.

    Good luck!
