    Soybean meal is 12% protein, cornmeal is 6% protein how many pounds of each should be mixed together to get 240 pound mixture that is 11% protein??

    OK tilson :
    So the mix has to consist of only soyabean and cornmeal, and arrive at a 11% protein mix.
    That means that we have to reduce the soybean content with just enough cornmeal to get the protein content down from 12% to 11% for 100% mix.

    The 240 pounds of mix at 11% means 26,4 pounds of protein

    Per 100 pounds of Soy at 12% you get 12,0 pounds of protein
    Per 10 pounds of Corn at 6 % you get 0,6 pounds of protein

    The total weight should be 240 pounds, and the protein content 26,4 pounds

    From here on it is up to you to calculate the required totals ! (Tip : start with the biggest part... )

    I beleve you can also do this problem as simultaneous equations. One is rather easy and the other is a bit more difficult.
