adding solar heating loop to hot tub
My wife recently purchased an inflatable hot tub. Despite my initial misgivings and a slight beachball smell it has worked out extremely well. It a has pump unit for the filtering and jets, with an integral electric heater. It takes quite a while for the water to heat and the electric bill has really jumped. I would like to add a loop of black plastic pipe between the pump and the tub as a preheat to take some of the load off the heater. My question is ; would 50' of possibly 3/4" id pipe add unacceptable resistance or backpressure? I understand that there are a lot of variables, (pump HP being one unknown), I am just looking for an informed guesstimate. There would be no elevation change for the additional pipe. Thanks. Ken
