    Dog won't eat.her food.
    Hello, sneezers here.

I have a 2 year old chi. I recently brought her back to my apartment as she spent a 2-month furlough at my parents' house while I was on a trip and in the process of moving... thought that she'd be more stressed out if we had movers in and out.

Regardless, at my parents' house, she was a happy dog... running around, etc.

I brought her to my apartment Saturday... and she hasn't eaten since. I brought the same food that I've been feeding her from my parents' house... but refuses to eat. She'll sniff... then walk away. She drinks plenty of water, runs around, plays, etc... but just won't eat.

Then I tried some of my food... she'll eat just fine. I tried giving her a little bit of rice (a little wet) and some chicken breast chunks... she gobbled it up. Then I tried mixing her food with rice and chicken... she picked the bowl CLEAN... of the rice and chicken, left her food.

... I'm wondering if she just hates her food now... which is a bit bizarre as she's been eating the same food for about a year now. Shall I go buy another bag of food?

Sounds like she dislikes her food. My dogs did the same thing when we switched dog foods, we mixed things in as well, they'd eat the mixings and leave the dog food.

I would switch foods, but make sure and mix half and half with her old food, otherwise she might get sick. Of course she's not eating her old food so that's probably a mute point. :)

I hope little Princess starts eating soon. Little stinker, you have daddy all worried about you.

Weird thing is, I never switched her food. It's the same food she's been eating for a year.. . hmm... I'll run to the store to get some food for her tomorrow, as she's eaten half my dinner tonight.

    ... little stinker.

Don't worry too much Sneezy, she isn't starving. In fact, she's playing her cards very well. She doesn't eat and you share your dinner with her, she's no dummy.

Maybe try not giving her anything, when she's hungry she'll eat her food.

Princess has you wrapped around her paw. :)

    ... stupid dog.

... actually, I'm the one that's stupid. GAH! I fall for her tricks. But it's hard... whenever I eat, she looks at me with those doe-eyes and I just sneak her a piece... y'know... a small piece of chicken here... there...

Then I end up giving her half my dinner.

    ... little brat.

Are you getting close to the end of the bag of dog food? I think it can go a little stale, if you are. My pets will chow down on a new bag of food, but when we get to the end of it, they are much less interested. Get a new bag of food, and every one is happy again. I ponder getting smaller size bags, but I'm pretty sure that I wind up saving money with the current size even if I throw out the last two servings or so.

It's actually a relatively brand new bag... but I did take possible spoilage into consideration. It could just be a weird batch too.

She's a 5-lb chihuahua... which means a 8 lb bag of food lasts about a month.

I'll go pick up some new food tomorrow, see what happens.
