Can a Black Moor live in a 2 gallon fish bowl with no filter?:confused:

Yesterdy I got a fish ( black moor to be exact ). Will he be able to live in a 2 gallon bowl, and if so for how long will he live in there?? :confused: :(

Please don't feel like I'm coming down on you with what I have to say, because I'm not in any way.
Stores sell goldfish bowls... you see goldfish in bowls on TV... even Elmo
On sesame street has a goldfish in a bowl (a different goldfish every show)
And that's probably because they keep dying...
People really don't know this stuff and have to learn by asking questions.

It's unhealthy (and cruel) for goldfish to be kept in bowls.
A lot of people don't know this to no fault of their own.
The water in a goldfish bowl becomes stagnant very quickly from their
Urine, poo, and old food.
With out a filter, all of this waste is left to rot in the fish's water making it a very toxic place.

Goldfish breath by extracting oxygen out of the water through their gills.
No air pump means no oxygen in the water for your fish to breath and he'll hang around at the top of the bowl gulping and gasping for air.
And unfortunately, he'll never grow to his fullest potential.
All of these factors equal a short life for the goldfish... could be days, could be weeks, could be months.

Some people have reported their goldfish living in bowls that happen to be longer than tall for a couple of years.
They are usually the short long round bowls sold.
They live longer because there is more surface area water touching the air
Which enables oxygen to mix with the surface water...
But a few years does not compare to the 15 to 20 years a goldfish can live if properly taken care of.

If you must keep your moor in a bowl for now, only fill the bowl 1/2 to 2/3 the way full so that there is more surface
Air in contact with the amount of water and change the water daily or at least every other day so that the toxins can be removed from the water.
