    Carrier heat pump
    I Have A Carrier Heat Pump Moel #38ycb036300 That Was Working Fine Yesterday. Today It Will Not Come On. Thermostat Is Okay. What Should I Look For, Is Their Any Problem Parts In Extreme Heat? I Used It On And Off For The Last Two Days After A Six Month Rest. Minor Usage For The Heat This Winter. Temp About 100 Plus Last 3 Days. Any Help? Thanks

    First start by checking the circuit breaker inside and fuses for the outside unit

    Per your instructions: when I manually engage the circuit breaker, the unit comes on and cools as long as I hold the circuit breaker in upon release the breaker does not stay in contacand the unit shuts off. Bad breaker? If so where is the best place to purchase a replacement part? Thank you

    Yep bad circuit breaker. Possible places Lowe's, Home Depot etc.

    Remember replace with the same size and manufacturer.

    If you feel uncomfortable working on a live electric panel call for help from someone that does not. The life you save may be your own.


    The outside disconnect?? OR in the outside unit itself

    What is the brand and amp rate of the breaker?

    Most breakers used in equipment are the same as used in a house panel BUT there couold be exceptions. Can you post a picture?

    What Should I Do. Order One Of Those Or Fins A Carrier Parts Place? Also Could The Two Canisters That This Is Wired To Have Anything To Do With The Problem Before I Buy The Contacter?

    Sounds like the contactor,, it may not be bad, but is lacking the 24 volts going to it to make it kick in,, check the voltage on the two smaller wires that are going to it from the outside

    That is a contactor and it is probably not the problem.

    To test check for 24 volts at the low voltage contacts when the unit is supposed to be running. If no 24 volts present that means that you have a low voltage problem and will have to track it down from the outside unit into the inside unit.

    If 24 volts is present and the contactor is not pulling in then it is a defective contactor.
