    What do I use to join sch 40 pvc to cast iron bell instead of jute and lead

    Stew gave you the part, (see image) but not the instruction on how to connect the two pipes.
    Insert the doughnut into the cast iron hub. Now take a file and bevel off the edge of the PVC pipe so there are no burs. Now take axle grease or Duel-Tite Lubricant and slaver the out side of the PVC and the inside of the doughnut.
    If it's a little difficult to start trimming off a few ridges with a sharp knife's acceptable. Now you can take a Johnson Bar Or a heavy rod and proceed to lever the PVC in until it bottoms out in the hub. Good luck, Tom
