That is like saying Daffy Duck would have to act like Donald Duck because they are both ducks.

While there is no real answer for your question, it is a good quote from the movie Stand By Me!

    I really liked that movie.

It may not be an exact quote, but it was asked in the movie.

It is a Stephen King short story, made into a movie.

Kind of a coming of age flick, about a group of boyhood friends.

One of the boys named Vern, asked this question.

    Have you ever seen it?

Goofy is a humanised dog.Goofy walks on two legs not four.Goofy talks and acts like a goofy human.

Pluto is just a humanised mouse's(Mickey's) pet dog.Pluto walks on four legs and does not talk (as far as I can remember).Pluto does all dog things, chasing squirrels and crabs and getting into scraps.

Like the comparison NoHelp gave,Donald Duck is more humanised than Daffy Duck.

What about Lady and the Tramp?

People think they are dogs, I mean unlike the other 2 Disney dogs at least they have human owners. But yet they think like humans, and are human inside.
Have you ever heard of a male dog courting a female dog by taking her out for a nice meal of spaghetti and meatballs from the local restaurant?

What the hell is going on? What's causing these dogs to mutate, and why is no-one concerned?

... I love the fact that people are taking this question oh-so-seriously.

Walt Disney Records: Bio of Goofy

He was originally called Dippy Dawg... so I'm going to go with... dog.

Stand By Me is a great movie; I've seen it three or four times over the years. I found this transcript of the Goofy exchange, which is hilarious:

So Mickey's a mouse, Donald's a duck, but what is Goofy?"--Gordie "If I could have one kind of food, that's easy: Cherry Pez. Definitely Cherry Pez."--Vern "A dog, Goofy's definitely a dog."--Chris "I always knew THE $64,000 QUESTION was fake. I mean, who could possibly know that much about opera?"--Gordie "How can he be a dog? He drives a car and wears a hat."--Teddy "The thing about WAGON TRAIN is they never got anywhere. They just kept wagon training."--Gordie "Yeah, Goofy's definitely a dog."--Chris "You think Mighty Mouse could beat up Superman?"--Vern "What are you? Cracked? "--Teddy "I don't know. I once saw Mighty Mouse hold up five elephants with his one hand."--Vern "Boy, you don't know nothing. Mighty Mouse is a cartoon. Superman is a real guy. There's no way a cartoon could beat up a real guy."--Teddy "Yeah. But it'd be a good fight, though."

Goofy is a cartoon character. Goofy is not real. The character is a depiction of a dog like animal. He cannot really talk. As I said. Goofy is not an animal, it is a cartoon.

Marmaduke is a Great Dane. The Wikipedia entry on Goofy claims he's a Bloodhound. In that universe where cartoon dogs really exist, of course, and some of them can talk and drive cars. ;)
