    Squares
    Hi,

My child asked me if a rectangle is a square. It seems to meet the definition. Is it?

    Thanks

No- A square has 4 equal sides and a rectangle does not.

A rectangle is not necessarily a square, but a square is always a rectangle.
    • A rectangle has four sides and four 90 degree angles. The opposite sides are of equal length.
    • A square fit this definition, and adds that all sides are of equal length.

A square is always a rectangle, a rectangle can be square, but not all rectangles are squares.
